From Miner to Entrepreneur: Seizing the Opportunities Provided by Terronera

November 14, 2024

My name is Raúl Cibrián Rodríguez. I joined the Terronera project on April 18, 2022, as a general assistant in the construction department, performing tasks related to masonry and plumbing. In November of that same year, I had the opportunity to participate in the Safety and Front Loader Operation course, which allowed me to obtain the DC-3 certification as a Front Loader Operator and, with it, an increase in my salary.

In February 2024, I applied for the Mining Technician training, which consisted of one month of theory and three months of practical training inside the mine. Thanks to this program, I achieved certification as a Level 2 Mining Technician.

During this time, the Environmental department identified the need for a provider to manage and transport waste. After discussions with the Environmental and Community Relations teams, I was offered the opportunity to become a TPM provider for this service. I had always aspired to start my own business, so I did not hesitate to accept this challenge.

In June 2024, TPM sent me to the “Transforming Businesses 10X” training program, through which I developed my business plan. At the same time, I received accounting guidance to establish my own company. Finally, on October 9, 2024, after completing the procedures required by TPM, I began offering waste management and transport services. My goal is for this project to grow and become a large company.
