From the very start of initiating our Terronera Project, we committed to promote careful, proactive management of local ecosystems and species by using practices that integrate conservation needs with development priorities. This will help us ensure a balance between development and biodiversity, to achieve no net loss from this development project.

Biodiversity Action Plan

Under our Biodiversity Action Plan, we recently introduced a new tool at Terronera to help guide our compensation, environmental improvement, conservation and overall sustainability practices relevant to different habitats and species found in the region. This tool is considered a “living plan” and will be updated as new results are generated, alongside strategic alliances with government and landowners to drive more actions to mitigate, restore, conserve and achieve sustainable use of the area’s natural resources.

Conservation Activities

  • Prior to constructing the Terronera site, we invested significant effort and funds to recover, relocate and monitor fauna and flora.
  • Terronera has a Fauna and Flora Management Plan and fully operational plant nursery. At the nursery we grow local plants and vegetation to replenish areas affected by our mining activities.
  • Beyond our own operations, Endeavour is collaborating with local groups to support a deer conservation project and an assessment of critical habitats in the area.
  • Every year we carry out a reforestation campaign with native flora produced in the project nursey.
