Terronera Celebrates World Environment Day with Action and Community Involvement

In celebration of World Environment Day, Terronera reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship with a series of meaningful activities held on June 4, 5, and 6, involving both our employees and the broader community.

Beautifying Our Home

The initiatives were led by our Compliance and Quality Assurance Department, kicking off with the event titled “Beautifying Our Home”. This activity focused on planting native trees cultivated in our in-house nursery, managed by the Environmental Department. With great enthusiasm and teamwork, we successfully planted nearly 45 native trees at the Terronera Camp, helping to enhance local biodiversity and beautify our work environment.

Growing Awareness in Local Schools

Our efforts continued at Lázaro Cárdenas del Río Elementary School, where we collaborated with teachers and students to carry out a reforestation project in the school’s green areas. This not only improved the physical environment of the school but also planted the seeds of environmental awareness among the younger generation.

The following day, we joined forces with students and teachers from Felipe Ángeles Telesecundaria School in the community of Santiago de Pinos for a clean-up campaign focused on local streams and natural drainage areas. Thanks to the collective effort, we managed to collect over a ton of waste, contributing significantly to the environmental health of the community.

Protecting a Regional Landmark

To conclude the week, we partnered with the Ejido Committee of Santiago de Pinos for a clean-up day at La Bufa, a natural viewpoint and cherished regional landmark. It was a productive and meaningful event that not only helped restore a beautiful space but also strengthened our collaboration with the local ejido and reinforced our shared commitment to conserving natural areas.
