Spotlight on Women in Mining: Brenda Soledad Barrios Haros

At Terronera, we are proud to see women making a strong impact in mining. One inspiring example is Brenda Soledad Barrios Haros, a Level 3 Mining Technician and Low-Profile Truck Operator, who joined Endeavour Silver on March 16, 2025.

Why Women in Mining Matter
Brenda shares, “It’s important because over time we’ve proven that we are capable, that we can do this work. There is a bright future for us in this sector, and women belong here. We need to break patterns. I have a daughter, and I want to show her that fear shouldn’t stop us. We should fight for the life we want, not just the one we’re given. She is proud to say her mom is a miner and drives a truck.”

Working at Endeavour
When asked about Endeavour’s programs supporting women in mining, Brenda highlights the difference she has experienced:
“I enjoy this Unit. The culture here is different. I’ve worked in other mining units where sexism is deeply rooted, but here I receive a lot of support and respect from my colleagues. They make me feel part of the team. We should continue encouraging more women to join operations.”

Her Vision for the Future
Brenda’s message is clear: “I want to continue promoting women’s growth in mining and show that we can excel. Limits are often the ones we set ourselves. Even though my family didn’t initially support my choice because of stereotypes about mining, today they see that I am succeeding and contributing to this sector. I’m the first in my family to work in mining, and now I have their support. I hope to inspire even more women to follow this path.”
