Let My School Shine: Reviving Spaces That Transform Lives
On December 2, the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río Elementary School experienced a key moment with the reactivation of its computer lab, an area that had been left unused for more than eight years. Today, this space is once again available to students thanks to the joint efforts of the Information Technology (IT) and Community Relations departments at the Terronera mine, as part of the launch of the new “Let My School Shine program”.

What Is the “Let My School Shine” Program?
“Let My School Shine” is a program created with the vision of restoring dignity to, modernizing, and revitalizing educational spaces within the community. Its main objective is to ensure that students have safe, functional environments that inspire learning and spark creativity.
The program emerged as a direct response to the needs expressed by teachers and school administrators. Built on dialogue and collaboration, it seeks to address real infrastructure challenges, improve long-neglected spaces, and bring technological tools to schools that have operated for years with limited resources.
With this first initiative, the program officially begins with a strong commitment to remain, grow, and provide ongoing support to each school within its area of influence.

A Computer Lab Brought Back to Life
The first visible step of the program was the restoration of the computer lab at Lázaro Cárdenas del Río Elementary School, where eleven computers had been stored away and unused. The IT team conducted a thorough assessment, and through their technical expertise, seven of those computers were recovered and brought back into operation.
In addition, the classroom underwent a complete rehabilitation, including:
- Fresh coats of paint
- Repairs to doors and windows
- Improved lighting
An adjacent area was also adapted and now serves as a small library, expanding students’ opportunities for research and study.
This project not only restored functionality to a classroom full of potential but also marked the beginning of an initiative designed to stay, grow, and strengthen schools throughout the area of influence in a comprehensive and lasting way..

A Transformation Felt in Every Corner
The reopening of the computer lab immediately sparked enthusiasm among students, teachers, and families. For the first time in years, children now have access to educational software, interactive platforms, and digital tools that strengthen their learning experience.
This project represents more than a physical improvement—it is a decisive step toward digital inclusion, the development of essential digital skills, and an educational model that opens doors to the future.
Teachers, in turn, now have better tools to prepare materials, plan activities, and enrich their classes with modern resources.
A Commitment That Is Just Beginning
The reopening of the computer lab marks only the first chapter of the “Let My School Shine” program. The vision is clear: to continue renewing schools, improving their conditions, and ensuring that every intervention reflects the dignity and value that the children of the community deserve.
This program is here to stay. To listen. To transform.
To help every school shine and, in doing so, the entire community as well.
